I'm trying to get enough people together to run a classic car league. Ideally players will atleast intend to join every race and will have enough experience to be in control of their car at all times and good race craft around other people on track. 2 classes and mixed cars in class means you need to race in a predictable way and be aware of slower or faster cars in a different class.
Nothing is set in stone yet but it will either be on a Friday or Saturday night with practice open all day and qualifying starting at 8PM GMT for 1 hour. The race will start at 9PM and will probably be between 30 and 45mins.
I would like a full 24 car grid to go ahead with the mixed class league. If we get close to 24 we could consider using just 1 of the classes.
Please post in this thread if you are interested in joining in, I already have between 10 and 15 people who have expressed interest in the official AC forum thread.
The Cars
Over 2 litre (O2L) Class:
Ford GT40 - 6 cars
Porsche 908LH - 6 cars
Under 2 litre (U2L) Class:
Alfa Romeo GTA (+30kg) - 6 cars
Porsche 718 RS60 - 6 cars
I think some further testing would be needed to see if the 908 or GT40 need permanent ballast, at the moment my opinion is that they will both have an advantage at certain tracks (same goes for U2L cars but IMO the GTA needs 30kg every race.)
The Tracks
The tracks are as yet undecided but there will probably be 8<10 events running weekly or every 2 weeks.
Provisional list:
RIR Short
New Jersey Motorsport Park Lightning Layout
Bridgehampton
VIR North
Thomson Road
Monza Junior
Vallelunga Classic
?
?
RIR NASCAR
I don't think I will do qualifying ballast (up for debate though) as some of the cars might carry ballast better than others.
The cars in each class are very well balanced without any ballast, I think the GTA should have approx 30kg but need to test further. That said they will not be perfectly even, just like real life it will vary track to track which car has an advantage and 1 of the cars in a class may have a slight advantage over all, the 718 RS60 for example will always do much better than the GTA off the start line. The differences corner to corner can make for some very exciting racing and I think it could be a very fun league with a group of fair and respectful racers.
