Minorating (MR) is a plugin for Assetto Corsa designed to help make public servers a better environment to race in. The plugin runs server-side so there is no need for clients to download or run 3rd party software.
It works in a similar way to iRacing's iRating system where contacts with other cars per distance traveled are used to calculate your rating.
Its primary use will be to prevent 'undesirables' from entering public servers to cause havoc amongst people who want to race fairly with each other. It can easily distinguish between someone who is careless and continuously hitting other drivers, and those who are just unlucky and get hit by the careless. Of course you still need to do your part and avoid collisions where possible.
Grades:
A - Outstanding
B - Clean
C - Rookie or Trying
D - Not clean
W - Deliberate Wrecker beyond doubt
N - New, unrated
Initially everyone will start with grade N. This doesn't mean you are a noob, it just means you haven't completed enough kilometers (40) on a server connected to MR to be graded yet.
The goal really is to stay within the A, B and C grades. This is easily achievable simply by racing normally without an excessive number of contacts with others on track. If you happen to get taken out in a turn 1 wreck, don't worry, just continue on with your race and rejoin the track as safely as possible without hitting anyone else. The person who caused the wreck is the one who needs to worry. If you do happen to cause the wreck, well just make sure you don't do it too often because MR can calculate who caused it and will adjust your score to suit. If it happens too often you will be graded a wrecker (W) and denied access to most other servers connected to MR.
MR also detects if you are racing in close proximity (Attack) with others on track (within 20 meters) and as long as no contact is made your graded score gets better quicker.
This chart broadly explains how to achieve each grade (figures may be adjusted pending further testing):
We eventually (date to be confirmed) intend to deny access to our most popular public servers to everyone except A, B and C, thus we should see a marked improvement in driving standards. Please note this is not a magic wand which will clean up our servers over night. It will take time and it relies on you to make it work.
We will provide a 'Training Server' open to everyone to allow them to improve their grade, which we envisage will be used mainly by the remaining groups (D, W & N) but not limited to these groups. Your grade will improve quicker with more people on track i.e. Driving on an empty track will improve your score but not as quickly as racing alongside other players. So if you find yourself with a grade which denies access to some servers you can use this server to improve it and perhaps invite some friends to help you achieve it quicker.
Please be aware that this server will be admin'd at random intervals and anyone caught deliberately trying to cause collisions on this server will be permanently blacklisted with no chance of being unbanned. We will pass this information on to other communities which means you will be blacklisted from their servers too.
MR also provides us with the ability to auto kick/ban players who cause mass contacts (deliberate wrecking) and/or x number of contacts per session. Initially we will not use this feature, but if we conclude that our servers are being abused or if people are trying to abuse the MR rating system, it will be enabled.
You can see your grade at any time by visiting www.minorating.com or when in game type into chat "/minorating" or simply "/mr" (without quotation marks). We (server admins/managers) do not have the ability to change your grade so please do not ask us to. Only you can improve your grade by driving safely.
This will not relinquish the task of our server admins and they will still be present on our servers to kick/ban individuals who are not driving safely or fairly.
